Campaign Story
About the project
The Sahariya tribe of Baran district in Rajasthan primarily depends on agriculture for their livelihood. However, extreme poverty and low awareness levels often force children to drop out of school, leading to early marriages or child labor. In addition, substance abuse is a widespread issue affecting men, women, youth, and adolescents within the community.
Making a difference
CRY America’s Project VSS in Baran works to bridge the gap between the privileged and underprivileged by ensuring access to education through school enrollments and re-enrollments. Key activities include identifying vulnerable children, integrating child laborers into mainstream schools, and encouraging enrollment in Open State School (NIOS). Additionally, the project focuses on forming Children’s Collectives and Girls’ Collectives to raise awareness about child marriage and child labor, empowering young individuals to advocate for their rights.
